We constantly keep close tabs on which companies out there are doing interesting/out of the box and forward thinking things with their careers website. Companies that understand the importance of communicating their unique employer value propositions via the web in interesting and engaging ways. Companies that understand that their careers website is more than just a place for all their jobs, value proposition, vision and mission.
“A positive candidate experience translates directly into more referrals, more hires, and better quality candidates. The experience most candidates have with an organization usually starts in one of two ways: they either receive a call from a recruiter or a friend who tells them about the organization, or they go to the career site for information and to look for open positions.” Kevin Wheeler
As the web evolves, more and more opportunities are created to spread one’s message to targeted talent using different channels. It is somewhat surprising to see how few companies are using these new opportunities to their benefit…heads still stuck in the past, and going on with the same processes they used 20 years ago…
So we have decided to include a new feature each Friday – focusing an great example of a companies that have done great things with their careers websites – feel free to email us should you have examples of sites you believe should be included in our feature.
You may think we are going to spring a big suprise on you now (we have many in store for future posts) but in fact the first website that we are going to feature as good starting point it is Facebook | Careers
5 Positive points about this website:
- Its simple to use – zero clutter
- It breaks up its key messaging to target audiences and displays relevant jobs to specific candidate targets
- Content has been carefully chosen to portray the work/life balance that they promote
- Rich multimedia experience using video and audio is awesome – its authentic, its evidence and I bet it does an effective job in enticing candidates (job postings via video anyone?)
- Using clever challenging online puzzles as behind the scenes screening tools (we like!)
